After 4 years of development the Xbox RPG title Fable has gone gold! Look for it in stores on September 14th.

  1. What does it mean when a game goes “gold”?
Is it like when an album sells 1 million copies?
    Great site bt the way.

  2. Thanks! We’re glad you’re enjoying it.

At the end of a game’s development cycle, the production house creates verisons of the game that attempt to meet expectations of Quality Assurance. They’re called Gold candiates, and once the “okay” is given, THE working Golden candidate get’s shipped to a CD production plant to be pressed.

So when something’s “Gone Gold” - the final version of that game has been built, burned to a CD and is off to the factory to begin replication, boxing, and shipping.

“Fable, one of the most anticipated RPG games ever is nearly upon us and together with IGN Xbox, TeamXbox has secured the world exclusive online review for this Friday, August 27th. We will be posting our in-depth review at 10am PST, along with IGN Xbox, where you can find out if Fable is a game for the ages or all hype. “
