post Sony Strips Multiplayer from Gran Turismo IV

September 24th, 2004

Yesterday/Today (Japan is funny like that) at the Tokyo Game Show Sony announced a December 14th release date for Gran Turismo IV. This fourth installment of the racing franchise has been highly anticipated and drooled over for years by PS2 fans. I almost bought a PS2 just to play it.

Almost. It seems they’ve recently made an executive decision to strip-out the online component of the game, only to stick it into a FUTURE release of another Gran Turismo product. Holy jerk-move.

Couple that with the fact that there’s NO damage modeling in the game, at all, and they’ve just lost a customer. Hey, thanks for saving me some cash Sony! :)

  1. This is the biggest jerk-move of the holiday season, and for some reason it makes me happy it came from Sony. To all of those people who discredit Microsoft for being bastards with their Xbox releases - all I gots to say is - sucka! I’m no a Microsoft fan boy, but they’re not the only giant conglomerate that runs a video game console system. :)

  3. that’s why we need to keep nintendo around. yeah, sony is worse than microsoft… like WMP wouldn’t encode MP3s at bitrates higher than 64kbs, but Sony won’t even let you stick an mp3 on your Sony player… it reencodes it (apparently they’re thinking of changing that, but too little too late i say). then again, that’s just sort of a shade of a difference, now, isn’t it. so, uh, go nintendo! :)
