The MTV special, hosted by actor Elijah Wood on May 12, will feature a performance by rock band the Killers. Athletes and celebs will show off the console’s new features. MTV will air teaser spots prior to the event and screening parties will be held in countries in which MTV airs.

Gaw. I’m not a huge fan of MTV, nor do I appreciate Xbox whoring itself out with such an obvious 30 minute Perot-esque commercial “presentation”. I’ll surely cringe through the numerous celebrity-hype moments. “Did you see that game? *fake laughter* That was dope!”.. or whatever the kids say these days.

But the highres vid clips should be entertaining.. and of a higher quality than the crummy shakeycam E3 vid streams we’ll get from the interweb.

I can’t wait for this fall! I want my Halo 3 box!
