post Best Console Controllers of All Time: CNet

May 25th, 2007

Microsoft Xbox 360Did you expect the Wii? Sorry. It’s a brilliant piece of innovation, that’s not in question, but there simply aren’t enough games to judge it against the best controllers ever. The Xbox 360 pad has proven itself over a longer time and on a wider selection of titles — and it has its own claims to originality.

It’s not terribly pretty — it’s beige, for a start — but the Xbox 360’s pad is a winner on several counts. For starters, it was the first wireless pad to come as standard. Its comfy, solid design offers dual analogue joysticks and two analogue trigger buttons underneath.

There’s also a built-in jack for connecting a headset, so you can hear and talk to your n00b opponents. Can it be waved around like a magician’s wand? Hell no, but this is about serious man-gaming — there’s no time for moving your arms when your thumbs are tapping this fast.

post Line Rider game Made to Replicate Mario World 1-1

Simply fantastic. I love it when one game pays homage to another. If you’ve never seen Line Rider, check it out.  Then watch this movie to appreicate  it fully.

This LineRider lever is a nigh-exact replica of the first level of Super Mario Brothers — looks like it would be a ton of fun. Someone needs to make a CounterStrike level based on this level.

post WoW on a OQO Ultra Micro PC

May 17th, 2007

Forget the PSP… now you can play WOW on a handheld computer..

World of Warcraft just got mobile and we’ve got the videos to prove it. In this two part video, John boots up World of Warcraft on an OQO model 02 UMPC and takes his level 70 character to a few different worlds. Their is some killing, some looting and some auction stuff going on. The little unit handles the game remarkably well - but John needs some practice controlling World of Warcraft with his thumbs!
